Nissan LEAF Maintenance Schedule

With all your adventures around Ithaca, Elmira, and Cortland, NY, it's important to take care of your vehicle. With routine care and maintenance, your Nissan LEAF can continue to run at peak condition for years to come.

To help you stay up to date, our team at Maguire Nissan has put together this Nissan LEAF maintenance schedule guide. We'll cover the basics of what your LEAF needs to continue providing reliable service.

Every 7,500 Miles/6 Months

The first checkpoint on our maintenance schedule is the 7,500-mile or 6-month check, whichever comes first. When your Nissan LEAF hits 7,500 miles, there are a number of common and important maintenance tasks that need to be performed.

This includes the inspections of the following:

  • Horn and lights
  • Signals, wipers, rear hatch/hood lift supports
  • Battery terminals/cables, battery test
  • Tire pressure, treadwear, and depth
  • Suspension components

Your Nissan will also be due for a tire rotation. This will help ensure that the tires wear down evenly, so you want to make sure you bring in your vehicle for this.

Every 15,000 Miles/12 Months

Around 15,000 miles, you'll want to stop back in. Your Nissan LEAF will receive the same services included in your 7,500-mile check in addition to a couple of other quick procedures, such as an essential in-cabin microfilter replacement and an EV Battery Usage Report. The additional services include inspecting the following:

  • Brake lines & cables
  • Brake pads & rotors
  • Charging port
  • Drive shaft boots
  • Reduction gear oil

22,500 Miles/18 Months

Your LEAF should still be running smoothly at this point, but the following procedures will help ensure that your vehicle maintains peak condition.

You can expect the same services that were completed with your 7,500-month check, such as the battery test and tire pressure. In addition, you should have the Intelligent Key battery inspected.

Every 30,000 Miles/24 Months

Several new procedures will be completed at 30,000 miles. We'll still see the same services from all the previous checks, but this time your Nissan will need some fluid replacements.

These inspections will be completed:

  • Axle & suspension parts
  • Charging port sealing cap
  • Front suspension ball joints
  • Steering gear and linkage
  • Steering linkage ball joints

Plus, you'll need to have a tire rotation done as well as replace the following:

  • Brake fluid
  • In-cabin microfilter

At 45,000 Miles/36 Months

When your Nissan LEAF hits 45,000 miles, you'll once again repeat the inspections that were completed during the 15,000-mile check. However, at 36 months, you'll actually want to replace the Intelligent Key battery. This will be joined by the tire rotation and in-cabin microfilter replacement.

67,500 Miles/54 Months

When your LEAF hits 67,500 miles, it's time to repeat the basic procedures again. You'll inspect the following:

  • Horn and lights
  • Signals, wipers, rear hatch/hood lift supports
  • Battery terminals/cables, battery test
  • Tire pressure, treadwear, and depth
  • Suspension components

If you're also at 54 months, then it's time for another Intelligent Key battery replacement. As always, we'll rotate your tires as well.

Keep Repeating at the Listed Intervals!

As an electric car, the Nissan LEAF is pretty simple when it comes to maintenance. You don't have to worry about all the engine parts or the fuel levels at all. Simply keep up with the listed mileage intervals previously mentioned.

So, every 7,500 miles, you'll have the tires rotated and the same basic procedures done. Every 15,000 miles, you'll be due for a few more services such as the brake pad inspection and microfilter replacement, and so on.
